This course is ideal for Architects who have responsibility for planning and designing, buildings and facilities, as well as those who are required to provide advice to others regarding access and Universal Design in the built environment.

This course provides students with the premium nationally recognised qualification as an Access Consultant. It also incorporates the mandatory training requirements for successful candidates wishing to become:

• Specialist Disability Accommodation Assessors
• Livable Housing Design Guideline Assessors
• Livable Housing Design Standard Assessors

• 9, 10, 23, 24 February, 9, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24 March 2027. 10.00am – 5.00pm each day, Melbourne Time.

This highly acclaimed course provides students with the skills required to provide advice on access and Universal Design in the built environment, as well as services and programs for people with a range of access challenges, including people with disabilities, older adults, parents and families, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, as well as people who identify as gender diverse.

Importantly the course also provides the basis for a practical and comprehensive understanding of the reasons behind relevant legislation and standards – the ‘Why’s’ of Access – relating to the function and use of buildings, facilities and services.

This course has been specifically adapted for Architects and candidates must be able to demonstrate Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) for at least one specific Unit of Competency i.e., Read and Interpret Plans. Candidates can also apply for additional RPL or Credit transfer based on their individual skills, existing qualifications, and experience.

10 days face to face training sessions (delivered live online via Zoom) plus a specified timeframe to complete all assignment materials. Course fees are exempt from GST.

Note: To provide the best possible learning experience, each course requires a minimum of 15 enrolments before it can proceed.

Students are encouraged to enrol as early as possible, as course places are allocated in order of enrolment and payment of the Enrolment deposit.

Access Institute reviews enrolment numbers on an ongoing basis. Once the required minimum enrolment number has been reached, all enrolled students will be advised by email that the course has been confirmed.
