The Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport Amendment 2026 represents the most significant update to Australia’s transport accessibility requirements in many years.

The amendments introduce substantial changes affecting the planning, design, construction and operation of accessible public transport infrastructure and services. Importantly, the Amendment does not replace the existing Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002. Instead, it modifies and updates them, meaning practitioners must now read both documents together to fully understand the current legislative requirements.

For many professionals, interpreting exactly what has changed and understanding the practical implications will be a significant challenge.

Access Institute has undertaken a comprehensive review of the Amendment and is presenting a practical two-hour CPD webinar designed to help industry professionals understand the changes and how they affect everyday practice.
